13,000 Beneficiaries In Pune Await Housing Subsidy Under PM Awas Yojana; Faces Land And Documents Issue

Pune, 3rd March 2025: While 33,000 beneficiaries in Pune district have been approved for housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), only 20,000 have received the first installment of the subsidy. The remaining 13,000 are still waiting due to issues related to land ownership and documentation, posing a challenge for the Zilla Parishad in disbursing funds.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had distributed the first installment to PMAY beneficiaries at a program in Balewadi, which was attended by 7,000 recipients. Pune district was allocated a target of 37,000 houses under the scheme, with 33,000 approvals granted. On the day of the event, 19,000 beneficiaries received ₹15,000 as the first installment, transferred directly to their mobile-linked accounts. A total of ₹30 crore has been disbursed so far, with an additional 1,000 beneficiaries receiving funds later, bringing the total number of recipients to 20,000.
However, the remaining 13,000 beneficiaries are facing delays primarily due to the absence of land ownership documents. Many do not have land registered in their names, while others lack sufficient proof of ownership. The Zilla Parishad has requested land allocation from the District Collector’s Office to address this issue. Additionally, some applicants have yet to link their Aadhaar cards with their bank accounts, further hindering subsidy distribution.
Officials have assured that once the required documentation is completed, the pending grants will be released, ensuring all eligible beneficiaries receive their rightful housing support under PMAY.
