134 New E-Buses to Roll Out in ST Pune Division to Boost Passenger Services
Pune, 16th December 2024: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will introduce 134 new electric buses in the Pune division over the next two months to meet rising passenger demand and tackle pollution caused by diesel-run vehicles. This move aims to provide relief to commuters while modernizing the transport fleet.
This addition comes in response to the reduction of traditional “Lalpari” buses, which had strained operations and caused inconvenience to daily travelers. With growing passenger numbers, driven by various discounts and government schemes, MSRTC is now focusing on expanding its fleet of air-conditioned electric buses, which are receiving positive feedback from commuters.
Currently, electric buses operate on routes connecting Pune to Kolhapur, Solapur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Given the success and high satisfaction levels on these routes, MSRTC plans to deploy more electric buses not only on existing routes but also on new ones.
Officials reported that the 134 upcoming e-buses will ensure a more comfortable, timely, and eco-friendly travel experience. The modern buses will also help reduce emissions, supporting the state’s efforts to combat air pollution.
With the rollout expected soon, passengers in Pune and nearby regions can look forward to a more efficient and sustainable public transport system.
