17-Year-Old Killed in Chopper Attack in Pune, Two Arrested

Hadapsar, 3rd December 2024: A 17-year-old youth, Yash Sunil Ghate, was fatally attacked with a chopper on Tuesday morning in the Ramtekdi area of Pune, reportedly over an old dispute. The police have arrested two suspects, Sahil Latif Sheikh (18) and Tahir Khalil Pathan (18), both residents of Ramtekdi, Hadapsar.

According to police, the incident occurred around 7 am near Jama Masjid in Ramtekdi. Yash, a resident of Wanawadi, was heading to college with his friends Aditya Chavan, Rehan Pathan, and Shreyash Shinde when the two accused approached from behind and assaulted him with a chopper. The attack left Yash critically injured.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police acted swiftly, apprehending the two accused within hours of the crime. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was motivated by a prior altercation between Yash and the accused, according to DCP (Zone 5) R Raja.

Further interrogation of Sahil Sheikh and Tahir Pathan is underway as police continue their investigation into the case.
