Pune, 26th February 2022: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today informed that about 2000 people from Maharashtra are stranded in Ukraine which has been invaded by Russia.

“We have established contacts with 366 people. We are working closely with the Central government to bring back everyone safely. As far as expenses of these evacuations are concerned centre does it, but if they don’t the state will have to bear the expenses of evacuation for citizens from our state. Nobody wants to do politics over it”, Pawar said.

He was speaking to media persons after the review meeting on the Coronavirus disease (COVID) situation in the Pune district.

“We have decided to shut both the jumbo hospitals in Pune district from 28th February. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the District Collector will mutually decide about the distribution of the machinery and other infrastructure etc of the facilities. In the third wave, the jumbo hospitals were not utilised”, he said.

On demands of BJP to sack Minister Nawab Malik after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Deputy CM said, “Our chief Sharad Pawar has already made a statement in this regard. We all know how Malik was being trapped. Others are also on the radar. They will accuse all leaders but we can’t go on asking for everyone’s resignations.”
