20,000 + daughters empowered through Project Asmita By Rotary Club of Bibwewdi Pune

Pune, 26th April 2022: Rotary Club of Bibwewadi along with its CSR partner GTPL and other partner clubs celebrated the success of Asmita-Daughter Empowerment Project on April 17, 2022.

“Daughter Empowerment is not a project. It’s a mission” said Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta while delivering Chief Guest’s address to Rotary Club of Bibwewadi’s Project Asmita success celebration, Rotary India’s biggest project in the field of Daughter Empowerment with $ 2lakh worth and 34 Partner Clubs from 5 different states and multiple Rotary Districts. CSR Partner is GTPL Hathway Ltd.

Project Asmita trained more than 20,000 daughters in the fields of Fighting Sexual Abuse, Social Media Bullying, Self-Defence, Menstrual hygiene, career options & basic English.

Under Project Asmita, Training sessions for daughters were carried out in towns, villages, semi-urban areas, and tribal areas. Rotarians from Partner Clubs of Asmita participated enthusiastically to empower daughters through training and supplies.

Rtn. Advocate Vaishali Bhagwat, Dr. Nitu Toshniwal & Dr. Archana Pugalia were the domain experts of Project Asmita.

“When one daughter is empowered, one generation is empowered” stated PDG Mohan Palesha in his keynote address. In his address he emphasised on importance of today’s daughters as tomorrow’s nation builders.

Galaxy of Rotary leaders viz.Rtn Shakuntala Raha, PDG Shailesh Palekar, DGE Dr. Anil Parmar, DGND Shital Shah, DGND Sharad Pai, DGND Tushar Shah participated in the panel discussion that followed the address. DGN Majoo Phadke was the moderator for the session.

Panel discussed various aspects of Daughter Empowerment initiatives and shared their own experiences from their work in their respective districts. Panel emphasised the need to take Project Asmita beyond the boundaries of the country. DGE Dr. Anil Parmar declared Project Asmita as District Thrust Project for RID 3131 in his year.

Rotary Club of Bibwewadi President Dr. Prachi Pandya, IPP Ankush Parakh, PE Wardhman Gandhi, PN Nikhil Bhalerao & PND Mansi Shah worked as team and worked tirelessly to implement Project Asmita with perfection and precision.

Next phase of Project Asmita will be launched on International Daughter’s day 25th September 2022 with bigger scope, bigger budget and even bigger reach.
