Shivajinagar, 15th October 2025: A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the new building of the Pune District Court on Wednesday afternoon, reportedly distressed over not getting justice in a case that had been pending for 27 years.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Namdev Jadhav, a resident of Wadki area in Pune. He was a litigant in a land dispute case that had been under trial at the Pune court for nearly three decades.
Preliminary information suggests that Jadhav, frustrated with the prolonged legal proceedings, jumped from the fourth floor of the district court’s new building. The incident created a stir on the court premises, prompting immediate police action.
Officials from the Shivajinagar police station rushed to the spot soon after the incident and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Police said an investigation is underway to confirm the exact reasons behind the suicide.
“Initial information indicates that the person was upset as his case was not progressing despite many years of hearings,” said Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, in-charge of Shivajinagar police station.
