284 players for Shri Maheshwaranand Saraswati Memorial Maharashtra Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament

Pune, February 17, 2023: A total 284 players from all over india which included 6 International Masters will be seen in action at the Shri Maheshwaranand Saraswati Memorial Maharashtra Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament which will be organized by Buddhibal Kreeda Trust and played at Ashwamedh Hall, Karve Road Pune from 18th to 19th February 2023.

Mr.Prakash Kunte, trustee of BKT said that, The tournament will be held under the auspices of FIDE, AICF, MCA and PDCC. The event will offer total prize money of Rs.1,60,000/-. The event will be played under Swiss league format in the 9th round with the Latest FIDE rules applicable.

The event will be played in an open category. A total 284 players out of which 161 players are Rated, that means Unrated players will get an opportunity to fight with a Rated player from the first round. The winner will get Rs. 50000, while the runner up will get Rs. 25000 and the 3rd prize Rs. 15000-. Players from Maharashtra, Goa,Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, UP, West Bengal are participating in the tournament. Among the prominent players are IM Krishnater, Kushager(2310,Mah), IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh(2310, Mah), IM Audi Ameya(2309, Goa), IM Sammed Shete(2308, Mah), IM Abhishek Kelkar(2256, Mah), FM Suyog Wagh(2251, Mah), FM Ritviz Parab(2248, Goa), IM Kulkarni Vikramaditya(2242, Mah). The tournament will be inaugurated at the hands of Mr.Ashwin Trimal, MD of Truespace, GM Abhijit Kunte, Mr.Harnish Raja, Mr.Niranjan Godbole, Secreatry of MCA and Dr. Sanjay Karwade, Secretary of PDCC.
