Pune Customs Foils Drug Trafficking Racket, Seizes 54kg of Ganja Marijuana

Pune, 17th February 2023: The Narcotics Cell of Pune Customs has successfully thwarted a drug trafficking syndicate, seizing 54kg of ganja (marijuana) on 14th February 2023. Acting on intelligence received, the officers had been surveilling a group of ganja handlers and carriers, ultimately intercepting two vehicles near Solapur.
Three carriers and two handlers were apprehended, and upon searching one of the vehicles, the officers discovered the significant quantity of marijuana. The seized substance has been confiscated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.
In total, five individuals have been arrested, including two women hailing from Shirur (Pune) and Ahmednagar. They are currently in custody, while further investigation is ongoing. The success of this operation is a testament to the efforts of Pune Customs in combating drug trafficking and keeping communities safe.
