341 Electricity Bill Cases Worth Rs 1.45 Crore Settled in National Lok Adalat in Pune

Pune, 13th May 2025: A total of 341 cases related to pending electricity bills amounting to ₹1.45 crore were resolved during the National Lok Adalat organized in Pune, offering significant relief to both consumers and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL or Mahavitaran).
The settlement, facilitated by the District Legal Services Authority, included dues from across various divisions under the Pune circle of Mahavitaran. Among these, two major cases of electricity theft under Section 135 of the Electricity Act were also resolved, bringing in ₹59.27 lakh in electricity bill dues and settlement fees.
Division-wise, the highest number of settlements was reported in Rastapeth Circle , with 266 cases worth ₹65.25 lakh cleared. Pune Rural Circle saw 42 cases worth ₹43.65 lakh settled, while Ganeshkhind Mandal accounted for 33 cases totaling ₹36.67 lakh.
In total, ₹1.45 crore, including both pending dues and theft settlements, was recovered through this special drive aimed at fast-tracking resolution and reducing litigation burden.
Officials from Mahavitaran, including in-charge Legal Advisor Dinkar Tidke, Legal Officers Neetal Haase, Ganesh Satpute, and Anjali Chougule, actively participated in the Lok Adalat proceedings alongside engineers, accounts officers, and support staff.
