42 Beggars, Homeless Persons Detained in Joint RPF-GRP Drive at Pune Railway Station
Pune, 10th June 2026: A joint special enforcement drive conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at Pune Railway Station over the past fifteen days resulted in action against 42 beggars and homeless persons found in the station premises, officials said.
According to railway authorities, the operation targeted individuals roaming in the circulating area and on station platforms. Those detained during the campaign were proceeded against under relevant legal provisions and produced before the competent court. Following court orders, the individuals concerned were sent to Yerwada Jail.
The enforcement drive was carried out on multiple occasions during the period. On May 25, action was taken against four beggars and homeless persons. A subsequent drive on May 29 led to action against 26 individuals, while another operation on June 6 resulted in action against 12 persons.

In total, 42 beggars and homeless persons were proceeded against during the joint campaign conducted by RPF and GRP.
Railway officials said the drives are being conducted as part of efforts to maintain cleanliness, security and passenger convenience at Pune Railway Station. The authorities stated that similar enforcement actions will continue to be undertaken regularly at the station premises.
