5 Bangladeshi Women Involved in Prostitution Caught in Pune’s Budhwar Peth

Budhwar Peth, 19th July 2025: Pune Police have raided the city’s red-light area in Budhwar Peth and detained five Bangladeshi women living illegally in India. Faraskhana Police had received a tip-off that Bangladeshi nationals, both men and women, were illegally residing in Malabaicha Wada, Budhwar Peth. Acting on this information, a team from the Detection Branch (DB) of Faraskhana Police Station conducted the raid.

Upon questioning, the five women confessed to being Bangladeshi nationals and admitted to staying in India without valid documentation. They also revealed that they were willingly engaged in prostitution in the Budhwar Peth area. The women have been identified as Jahanara Shaikh (45), Shilpi Begum Shaikh (28), Nusrat Nipa (28), Asha Eeyar (30), and Shilpi Akhtar (28), all natives of Bangladesh.

The action was carried out under the guidance of senior Pune Police officials by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme, Police Inspector (Crime) Ajit Jadhav, and Police Inspector (Crime) Uttam Namwade.
