5 Killed In Accident On Pune-Mumbai Expressway Near Khopoli, 5 Others Injured
Lonavala, February 16, 2021: Five persons died on the spot while five others sustained grievous injuries when a container truck hit many vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Khopoli. The accident took place around 1 am today.
According to police, the incident took place when the container truck going towards Mumbai, hit two cars, a truck and a trailer. The deceased persons have been identified as Dr Vaibhav Vasant Zunzare (41), Usha Vasant Zunzare (63), Vaishali Vaibhav Zunzare (38), Shreya Vaibhav Zunzare (5), all residents of Nerul, Navi Mumbai and Manju Prakash Nahar (58) of Goregaon (West), Mumbai.
The injured persons are Swapnil Sonaji Kamble (30), Prakash Hemraj Nahar (65), both residents of Goregaon (West) in Mumbai, Arnav Vaibhav Zunzare (11) of Nerul, Navi Mumbai and Kaluram Jamnaji Jat and Kishan Chaudhary. They are admitted at Khopoli municipal council hospital.
Dr Zunzare was a veterinary surgeon. During Corona pandemic, he was also assigned the duty at Corona hospitals. Therefore, he had sent his mother, wife and two children to his native village. The accident happened when he was taking them back to Navi Mumbai.
