6 kg Ganja Seized, Three from Solapur Arrested by Pune Police
Swargate, 27th June 2025: Pune Police have arrested three individuals from Solapur for their involvement in ganja smuggling. The operation was carried out by a special team formed under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Swargate Division), Rahul Aware.
According to police reports, on 19th June, near the Swargate Bus Stand, Police Constables Rahul Holkar and Vikram Sawant received a tip-off about a suspect, matching the description of a ganja smuggler provided to them, who was attempting to board a bus bound for Velapur in Solapur district. The suspect was carrying a brown-colored bag.
Acting on this information, police laid a trap. The suspect, identified as Nitin Narsingh Pal (23), a resident of Solapur, was detained. Upon checking his bag, police found a significant quantity of ganja.
During interrogation, accused revealed the names of his two accomplices: Altaf Tamboli (28) and Vitthal Shivpal (31), both residents of Solapur. He admitted that they had helped him smuggle the ganja to Pune for sale. He also informed the police that the remaining quantity of the drug was stored in an Innova Crysta car.
The police then traced and arrested the remaining two suspects and seized the vehicle. In the operation, a total of 6 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 1.21 lakh, an Innova Crysta car valued at Rs 15 lakh, and mobile phones used in the crime worth Rs 15,000 were confiscated, bringing the total value of the seized items to Rs 16.46 lakh.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of senior Pune Police officials and executed by the team led by ACP Rahul Aware, along with several police personnel.
