80 New Trains To Run From September 12, Railways Introduce New Features

New Delhi, September 7, 2020: Indian Railways has decided to run 80 new trains from 12 September. Ticket booking for these trains will start from September 10. At present, 230 trains are already running regularly.

Weekly Shramik Special 40 pairs of new trains are being run from Maharashtra and Gujarat, and 40 special pair of new special trains are running from 12th September and their booking will start on 10th September.

Railways had started limited passenger service on 12th May. There were 15 pairs of special trains running from Delhi. After this, the railways operated 100 pairs of trains from different parts of the country from 1st June. This included 17 Jan-Shatabdi, 5 Duronto and many traditionally popular mail or express trains.

Special post-COVID coaches will also come on the tracks soon for the safety of passengers. It will have hands-free facilities and a plasma air purification system. North Central Railway has also implemented QR code-based contactless ticket checking system. Plus, considering the anti-microbial properties of copper, railways have decided to install copper-coated handles and latches.  

Railways have also limited operations in pantry cars for long-distance trains. Packed and ready-to-eat food items are being served. This sequence will continue even further. 

Looking at the COVID-19, the railways have got an over-hall in the entire system. 500 regular trains have been discontinued. 10 thousand stops have also become useless. The journey will start in ‘New Normal’ as per the need. 

The new timetable will allow 15 percent additional freight trains with high speed on the dedicated corridor. There are plans to increase the average speed of passenger trains by 10 percent across the network.
