84,448 Admissions Confirmed Under RTE, Over 30,000 Seats Still Vacant

Pune, December 12, 2020: As many as 84,448 admissions were made through Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE) 2009. The education department currently collecting the information regarding the vacant seats and there is large probability of extending the dates for taking the admissions.

The 9,331 schools that were registered under RTE had 1,15,477 seats. While 2,91,368 applications were received for it. As many as 1,36,254 children were selected for the admissions.

The students who were in the waiting list were given the deadline to confirm their admissions till November 28. Primary Education associate director Dinkar Temkar said that there were 31,290 seats still vacant.
