91 New Patients of COVID in Pune city total cases reach 2573

Pune, May 11, 2020: Till 9 pm today, 91 new Coronavirus patients were reported in areas under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) taking the total tally to 2573. Also, 5 patients died while 69 were discharged from hospitals.  According to PMC, out of total 2573 patients, 1089 have been cured and discharged from hospitals while 149 have died. There are still 1335 active admitted in hospitals. 98 patients are critical and 19 of them are with ventilator support.

As per the Maharashtra health department report which prepared a few hours before the PMC report came, there were 1230 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the state taking the total tally of COVID-19 positive patients to 23,401. There were 36 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 20 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 5 in Solapur city, 3 in Pune, 2 in Thane city, 1 was recorded in Amaravati district, 1 in Aurangabad city, 1 in Nanded city, 1 in Ratnagiri and 1 in Wardha. Additionally, 1 death of an Uttar Pradesh resident was recorded in Mumbai.

Out of the 36 deaths today, 23 were men and 13 women. 17 of them aged over 60 years, 16 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 3 were aged less than 40 years. 27 out of the rest 36 patients (75%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 868 in the state.

Out of 2,18,914 laboratory samples, 1,93,457 were negative and 23,401 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today (Laboratory testing numbers have been updated as per the ICMR portal). 4786 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery.

As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 1256 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 12,027 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 53.71 lakh population was done. Currently, 2,48,301 people are in-home quarantine and 15,192 people are in institutional quarantine.
