Pune: Warning To People Living On Bank Of Indrayani River
Lonavla/Pimpri, 12th July 2022: Considering the rains in the Lonavla Dam catchment area, the discharge of water from the dam into the river basin is likely to start in the next 48 hours. Therefore, the administration has appealed to the citizens of the villages along the Indrayani river to remain vigilant.
The reservoir level in Lonavla Dam is 623.98 meters and the water storage is 7.11 D.L.H.M. (60.74 per cent). To avoid discharge, more and more water is being diverted to the west to generate electricity from the Khopoli power plant. However, citizens should not enter the Indrayani river basin considering the possibility of water discharge.
The administration has appealed for the immediate removal of animals, farm pumps other materials from the river basin.
