Pune: Five Family Members Rescued From Car Stuck In Rising Water Of Mutha River

Pune, 12th August 2022: The Pune Fire Brigade rescued five members of a family trapped in a car using ropes and life jackets on Thursday (12th August) when their four-wheeler drifted into the rising water on the riverside road under the SM Joshi Bridge.

The Erandwane fire station received a call about a car being washed away at 1:46 am. As soon as the fire brigade team reached the spot, the personnel descended into the river bed using a rope and life jackets and safely pulled out the five trapped people from the car.

 

Administrators identified the rescued individuals as Vachika Lal Vani (13), Priya Lal Vani (22), Kunal Lal Vani (28), Kapil Lal Vani (21) and Krishna Lal Vani (08).

They are from Palghar and arrived in Pune to visit their relatives. As they were travelling from the side road of Rajput Vitbhatti to the riverside, their car got stuck under the SM Joshi Bridge as the water level has increased due to the discharge from Khadakwasla and Panshet dams.

 

Fire officer Rajesh Jagtap, driver Dnyaneshwar Khedekar and Kishor Bane, Dilip Ghadashi, and Sandeep Karle carried out the rescue operation.
