All Convicts Including Nalini Sriharan In Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Released From Jail,

New Delhi, 12th November 2022: Today evening (November 12), Nalini Sriharan and four other convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case were released from jails in Tamil Nadu after 31 years. Soon after her release from the Women’s Special Jail in Vellore, Nalini went to Vellore Central Jail, from where her husband V. Sriharan alias Murugan was released. The Supreme Court on Friday (November 11), ordered the release of all six convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

 

After being released from jail, Nalini said, “I am thankful to the people of Tamil Nadu who supported me for 32 years. I thank both the state and the central government. I will talk about the rest of the things tomorrow during the press conference in Chennai. Supreme Court lawyers will also speak tomorrow.”

 

Besides Murugan, Santhan, the other convict in the case, was taken to a special refugee camp in Tiruchirappalli in the state after release. Both are Sri Lankan citizens. Payas and Jayakumar were taken to a special refugee camp after their release from Puzhal jail. Payas and Rajkumar are also Sri Lankan citizens.
