Pune Police Arrest Gang Members Involved In Robberies In Viman Nagar

Viman Nagar, 11th May 2023: The Pune City Police officials from Vimantal Police Station have successfully apprehended members of two gangs involved in robbery incidents in the Viman Nagar area of Pune.

On May 7, Rahul Kailasnath Tiwari, a housekeeping worker, fell victim to an assault and robbery perpetrated by two individuals near Uppala Hotel on Pune-Ahmednagar Road. The suspects enticed Tiwari with the promise of temple Prasad and subsequently led him to an open field. Two additional accomplices joined the perpetrators, subjecting Tiwari to verbal abuse and physical assault. They forcefully confiscated his mobile phone and proceeded to beat him with a belt, coercing him to transfer Rs 7,300 through online banking. A case has been registered at the Airport (Vimantal) Police Station under IPC sections 394 and 34.

Acting on leads provided by informants, the investigative team, comprising Police Naik Ankush Jogdande, Yogesh Thopte, and Dadasaheb Barde, successfully apprehended three suspects on May 8. The accused individuals were identified as Tejas Abhijeet Shirsath (24), Mahesh Shankar Sutar (34), and Sachin Bhimrao Matang (24), all residents of Vadgaonsheri, Pune. On May 9, an additional accomplice named Kratik Rajendra Adsul (22) from Yerwada was arrested.

“The investigation is still ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspect,” stated Senior Police Inspector Vilas Sonde, the in-charge of Vimantal Police Station.

In a separate incident that occurred around 1:30 am on May 10, Suraj Ali Gain, a waiter at a hotel, had his mobile phone stolen by three men on a two-wheeler opposite HDFC bank in Viman Nagar.

Acting swiftly based on a tip-off, the detection branch team led by Officer-in-Charge Ravindra Dhavre detained Kunal Anand Sathe from Bhosle Vasti in Yerwada, along with his accomplice, a minor boy. One suspect involved in the robbery is currently evading arrest.

The police operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Shashikant Borate, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yerwada Division) Kishore Jadhav, and Senior Police Inspector Vilas Sonde.

The team consisted of Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Dhavre, as well as police personnel Avinash Shewale, Ankush Jogdande, Dadasaheb Barde, Yogesh Thopte, Sachin Kadam, Sachin Jadhav, Rupesh Pisal, Nana Karche, Dyaneshwar Awari, and Girish Nanekar, who all contributed to the successful operation.
