Pune: Man Arrested For Threatening And Demanding ‘Hafta’ From Street Vendor In Dighi

Dighi 21st July 2023: The Pimpri Chinhwad Police have arrested a 20-year-old person for threatening and demanding ‘hafta’ from a street vendor in Dighi area. The accused identified as Aniket Metkar alias Guddya has been arrested by police in the case.

According to police, the accused on July 15 asked for free Masala Milk and Cream Role from the vendor but he refused to give it. Hovewer, the accused returned later in the evening with sickle and vandalised the shop. He also demanded Rs 5,000 extortion money as ‘Hafta’ from him every month to continue running business in the area.

A case in this regard has been registered at Dighi Police Station under sections 385, 387 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with section 37(1) of the Maharashtra Police Act, section 4(27) of the Arms Act and section 7 of the Criminal Law Ammendment Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
