Pune: Electricity Supply To 14,000 Consumers Disconnected As Outstanding Arrears Amount to Rs 204 Crore

Pune, 26th July 2023: The Pune circle is facing a significant challenge as 7,08,892 domestic, commercial, and industrial electricity consumers have accumulated arrears of Rs 204.67 crore. Despite repeated appeals for payment, many consumers have not cleared their overdue electricity bills, leading to disconnection proceedings. In the past fortnight alone, the power supply of 14,155 consumers in the Pune circle has been disconnected due to unpaid dues.

To facilitate the payment of both current and overdue electricity bills, all authorized electricity bill payment centers in the Mahadistraan of Pune circle will remain open during office hours on the upcoming public holidays, Saturday (29th) and Sunday (30th). Additionally, a convenient ‘online’ facility is available on the website www.mahadiscom.in and the mobile app, allowing low-pressure electricity consumers to pay their bills from the comfort of their homes.

Presently, Pune city has 3,14,920 electricity consumers with arrears amounting to Rs 76.11 crore. Among them, 2,68,122 domestic customers owe Rs 53.91 crore, 43,638 commercial customers owe Rs 20.09 crore, and 3,160 industrial customers owe Rs 2.12 crore. The power supply of 8,914 arrears customers in the city has been disconnected.

In the city of Pimpri Chinchwad, 1,51,409 electricity consumers have arrears of Rs 54.29 crore. Out of these, 1,25,869 customers have pending dues of Rs 31.63 crore, 21,035 commercial customers owe Rs 13.04 crore, and 4,505 industrial customers owe Rs 9.61 crore. The electricity supply of 952 consumers has been cut off.

Furthermore, rural areas in Ambegaon, Junnar, Maval, Khed, Mulshi, Velhe, and Haveli taluks account for 2,42,563 electricity consumers with arrears totaling Rs 74.27 crore. Among them, 2,16,261 domestic customers owe Rs 52.57 crore, 22,596 commercial customers owe Rs 14.35 crore, and 3,706 industrial customers owe Rs 7.35 crore. Disconnecting the power supply, drastic action has been taken for 4,289 arrears customers.
