Pune: PMC’s Website To Pay Property Tax Crashes As Citizens Rush To Pay Pending Bills On Last Day To Avail Discount
Pune 31st July 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s website to make online payment of the pending property tax for citizens stopped working due to a technical problem on Monday as many citizens rushed to make payment on the last day to avail discount. Hundreds of citizens who were standing in queue to pay their pending tax today were also stranded as the online payment system at PMC’s dedicated centers also stopped working due to a technical problem.
The Pune Municipal Corporation had announced a discount of 5% to 10% in the total tax amount to the citizens who make payments for their residential property tax between May 15 and July 31. The PMC has received over Rs 1,100 Crore tax payment during this period. However, since the discount scheme ends on Monday many residents tried to make their payments but failed due to a technical problem at municipal corporation’s website.
The officials of the PMC are working on to solve the problem on priority to ensure that the citizens can make payments and avail benefit of the discount scheme. According to reports, same issue was reported last year as well when hundreds of citizens rushed to make payment on the last day of the scheme.
