Pune: 16-Year-Old Goes Missing After Leaving for Classes in Deccan; Kidnapping Case Registered
Aundh, 21st October 2026: Chaturshringi police have registered a kidnapping case against an unidentified person after a 16-year-old boy from Lokbhavan Campus on Ganeshkhind Road in Aundh went missing after leaving home for coaching classes in Deccan on October 17.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Omkar Namdev Sangle, aged 16 years and nine months, left home at around 6 am but did not return by his usual time of 11 am.
Omkar, a Class 12 science student, attended coaching classes in Deccan. His father’s complaint states that his Saturday classes were ordinarily held from 7 am to 10.30 am.
When Omkar failed to return, his family contacted his teacher, who informed them that he had not attended class that day. His elder sister subsequently visited the coaching centre and received the same information, according to the complaint.
The family searched the Deccan area and locations Omkar frequented, including Jangli Maharaj Road, Sambhaji Garden and the Shankar Maharaj area, but could not locate him.
His father then approached Chaturshringi police, alleging that an unidentified person had enticed his son away for an unknown purpose.
Police registered FIR No. 493/2026 at 9.37 pm on October 17 under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The complaint describes Omkar as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a sturdy build, a round face and a dusky complexion. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black jeans and white Crocs footwear. It also notes a black mark on his right shoulder.
