From 180 to 90 Days: Maharashtra Slashes Land Survey Time with New Reforms
Pune, 3rd December 2024: The Land Records Department of Maharashtra state has implemented significant changes to the land survey process across the state, offering much-needed relief to citizens and builders. The earlier system, which categorized surveys into Simple, Urgent, and Super Urgent modes with varying fees and timelines, has been discontinued.
Under the new system, two streamlined options—Regular Measurement and Quick Measurement—have been introduced, with revised timelines and rates. Additionally, survey charges are now divided into two categories based on location: Rural Areas and Municipal Limits.
This reform aims to reduce confusion among landowners and address increasing administrative costs. Regular counting, previously taking 180 days, will now be completed within 90 days, while Quick Counting will take 30 days, replacing the earlier 15-day emergency process.
The changes, delayed due to election duties of Land Records Department employees, took effect on 2nd December, bringing transparency and efficiency to the land measurement process.
