Pune, 7th December 2024: Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cameras have been deployed at 52 locations on both sides of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as part of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). These cameras utilize radar technology to monitor vehicle speeds and issue e-challan to drivers exceeding the prescribed speed limits.

On the expressway, cars are required to adhere to a speed limit of 60 kmph in the Ghat area, while other vehicles must not exceed 40 kmph in the same area. For the rest of the expressway, the speed limit is 100 kmph for cars and 80 kmph for all other vehicles.

The AI-driven system is also being used to enforce other traffic rules, including wearing seat belts, avoiding mobile phone usage while driving, and maintaining proper lane discipline. Violators are being identified and penalized accordingly.

Authorities have urged all motorists to strictly follow the rules, remain vigilant, and avoid exceeding speed limits to ensure safety and compliance.
