Pune: Admissions Resumed For Pharmacy Courses In Maharashtra As CET Cell Lifts Suspension; Final Round To Conclude By 23rd December
Pune, 7th December 2024: The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has resumed the third round of admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy courses, including B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy. This decision, announced on 5th December 2024, clears the way for students seeking admission to pharmacy programs across the state for the academic year 2024-25.
The admission process, initially scheduled for completion in July-August 2024, faced delays due to proposals from newly established colleges seeking approval from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, to launch new pharmacy courses. Although these colleges received conditional approval subject to further inspection, they were excluded from the first two rounds of the centralized admission process.
Following a legal appeal by the colleges, the CET Cell suspended the third round of admissions across all pharmacy colleges. This delay caused frustration among students aspiring to join pharmacy programs. However, with the suspension now lifted, students can proceed with the admission process.
According to the revised schedule, students can fill out option forms for B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy courses from 7th to 9th December 2024. Admissions must be confirmed between 13th and 16th December, and the process will conclude by 23rd December.
Students admitted in this final round will still be eligible for government scholarships. Additionally, under the government’s Free Education Policy, girls enrolling in pharmacy courses for the academic year 2024-25 will receive financial support, leading to a noticeable rise in female applicants for these programs.
