Pune, 10th January 2025: Pune Metro has announced a major change to its service schedule, extending its operating hours until 11 PM, starting from the end of January. This decision aims to cater to the rising number of late-night commuters, including those traveling from the railway station, airport, and workplaces.

Key Changes to Pune Metro Service:

Extended Hours: The last trains on both the Vanaz-Ramwadi and Pimpri-Swargate corridors, which previously departed at 10 PM, will now run until 11 PM.
Increased Frequency: After 10 PM, an additional six trips will be introduced on both routes, ensuring trains run every 10 minutes.
Rising Popularity: Pune Metro’s popularity continues to grow, with over 200,000 passengers recorded on January 1, 2025, demonstrating the increasing demand for metro services.

Current Routes and Travel Times:

Vanaz-Ramwadi Corridor: 37-minute travel time
Pimpri-Swargate Corridor: 34-minute travel time
Passenger Feedback and Preparations: The decision to extend operating hours comes after continuous feedback from passengers, many of whom have requested longer hours of operation and more frequent trains. To further engage with commuters, Maha Metro has introduced an online portal and QR codes at stations, allowing passengers to easily submit their suggestions and complaints.

Challenges to Address:

Maintenance and Staffing: The metro will need to ensure there are enough resources and staff available to support the extended hours.
Infrastructure Development: Several stations still lack adequate parking and auto-rickshaw facilities, which will need to be addressed.
Security Measures: With longer operational hours, enhanced security protocols will be necessary to ensure passenger safety.
