Pune Celebrates 76th Republic Day with Grand Ceremony at Shivajinagar Police Headquarters
Shivajinagar, 26th January 2025: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism on January 26, 2025, at the Shivajinagar Police Headquarters in Pune. The event was graced by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Pune’s Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar, who unfurled the national flag at 9:15 am, marking the commencement of the celebrations.
The ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including District Collector and Magistrate Jitendra Dudi, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh and several other police officers, civil servants, retired police personnel, and distinguished guests from various sectors.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the President’s Medal for meritorious and distinguished service to the officers and employees of Yerwada Central Prison. Deputy CM Pawar handed over the prestigious awards, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to the correctional system.
The Republic Day parade showcased the discipline and dedication of various forces and squads. Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Pune Rural, Satyasai Karthik, led the parade as the commander, with Reserve Police Inspector Dashrath Hatkar as the second in command.
The parade included:
- Two platoons from State Reserve Police Force Groups No. 1 and 2, Pune.
- Male and female platoons from Pune City Police, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, Pune Rural Police, and Pune Railway Police.
- Representatives from the Pune City Traffic Control Branch, Home Guard Force, Forest Department Squad, and State Excise Department.
- Four school student platoons, along with platoons from the Jail Department and Maharashtra State Excise Pune Division.
The parade also highlighted modern technology and emergency preparedness, with the participation of:
- The Police Band Squad.
- Motorcycle Riders from the Transport Branch.
- The Dog Squad from the Crime Detection Unit.
- The Quick Response Vehicle Squad, Varun Water Vehicle Squad, and Fire Fighting Vehicle Squad, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Adding to the event’s educational and cultural value, a chariot from the Maharashtra State Textbook Board, Bal Bharati, carried messages promoting education and social awareness.
The ceremony reflected the spirit of unity, discipline, and progress, celebrating India’s journey as a republic. Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar commended the efforts of all participants and highlighted the importance of upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of patriotism, leaving the audience inspired and proud of the nation’s achievements and the contributions of its civil and security forces.
