Pune Airport to Launch ‘Udan Yatra Cafe’ for Budget-Friendly Refreshments
Pune, 7th February 2025: Pune International Airport is set to introduce an Udan Yatra Cafe by the end of February, following the model implemented at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. The café will be located near the exit gate of Pune Airport’s new terminal, offering affordable refreshments to travellers.
This initiative aims to cater to the needs of common passengers who often find airport food prices prohibitively expensive. The café will offer bottled water and tea for just ₹10 each, making refreshments accessible to a wider range of travellers. Other items on the menu will include coffee, samosas, and gulab jamun, priced at ₹20 each, based on the pricing at Kolkata Airport’s similar facility.
The Udan Yatra Cafe is part of the broader UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme launched by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to make air travel more accessible to the general public. While the scheme has received a positive response, the high cost of food at airports has remained a barrier for many travellers.
Aviation expert Dhairyashil Vandekar praised the decision, stating that it will provide relief to common passengers who previously avoided airport food outlets due to high prices. He emphasised that this initiative will allow ordinary travellers to enjoy basic refreshments like tea and coffee at the airport.
