MSEDCL Abhay Yojana Extended Till March 2025: Last Chance to Clear Electricity Bill Arrears

Pune, 14th February 2025: Consumers struggling with electricity bill arrears have a golden opportunity to clear their dues under Mahavitaran’s Abhay Yojana, which will remain valid until March 31, 2025. The scheme benefits domestic, commercial, industrial, and other non-agricultural consumers, even if they currently do not require an electricity connection.

As per the Supreme Court’s ruling, any unpaid electricity dues remain attached to a property, irrespective of ownership changes. This means that even new landowners or occupants are liable to pay outstanding electricity bills. To ease this burden, Mahavitaran is offering 100% waivers on interest and late fees (penalty) for defaulters who clear their principal dues.

Significant Participation in Pune Region
In the Pune regional division, 29,501 consumers have already enrolled in the scheme. Out of these:
17,261 consumers have cleared their dues, even if they do not require electricity.
10,135 consumers have had their electricity supply reconnected.
5,908 consumers have received new electricity connections.

Flexible Payment Options
Under the Mahavitaran Abhay Yojana:
Consumers paying the full outstanding amount in one go receive an additional 10% discount (for low-voltage consumers) and 5% discount (for high-voltage consumers).
Consumers can also opt to pay 30% of their dues upfront and clear the remaining 70% in six interest-free installments.

Massive Debt Clearance Across Districts
So far, 33,304 consumers have applied for the scheme in the Pune regional division. Out of ₹43.11 crore in cleared dues:
12,096 consumers in Pune district paid ₹27.56 crore
1,667 consumers in Satara district paid ₹2.09 crore
4,719 consumers in Solapur district paid ₹4.02 crore
6,453 consumers in Kolhapur district paid ₹6.36 crore
4,566 consumers in Sangli district paid ₹3.08 crore
