Pimpri Chinchwad: Passenger Beaten After Switching Rickshaws Over High Fare

Bhosari, 15th February 2025: A rickshaw driver allegedly attacked a passenger with a stone after a dispute over fare, injuring him. The driver also assaulted a woman who attempted to intervene. The incident took place near Sadgurunagar Arch on the Pune-Nashik Highway late at night on February 11.

Mohammad Yasin Sheikh (36), a resident of Moshi and owner of a juice center, has filed a complaint at Bhosari Police Station. Based on his statement, police have registered a case against the unidentified rickshaw driver.

According to police, Sheikh was returning home around 11 PM after closing his juice center when he hired the accused rickshaw driver. However, the driver demanded a higher fare than usual. Dissatisfied, Sheikh got off near Sadgurunagar Arch after paying the fare and boarded another rickshaw.

Angered by this, the rickshaw driver picked up a stone and attacked Sheikh, leaving him injured. A woman who stepped in to resolve the dispute was also assaulted by the accused, who then fled the scene in his rickshaw.

The Bhosari Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify the accused.
