The incident, which occurred earlier today, resulted in injuries to both law enforcement officers and the accused, though all parties are reported to be in stable condition.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr. Shivaji Pawar and Assistant Police Inspector Prasanna Jarhad sustained injuries during an operation. The confrontation unfolded as police, acting on intelligence, set up an ambush near a temple in Kendur Bailgada Ghat. As officers moved to detain the suspects, one managed to flee while Bhosale, armed with a koyta, launched an attack on the police. He struck DCP Pawar on the chest and API Jarhad on his left bicep. In response to the threat, DCP Pawar fired his weapon in self-defense, wounding Bhosale in the leg. The injured suspect, who has a criminal record with nine serious offenses, is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
This operation was initiated following a harrowing robbery in Bahul village, where a group of 5-6 dacoits broke into the Wadekar family home late on 23rd February. The intruders, wielding knives, threatened the elderly residents and ransacked the house. When the younger couple attempted to resist, they were seriously injured by the assailants. The robbers ultimately fled with gold ornaments valued at Rs 1.32 lakh and Rs 12,000 in cash.
In response to these incidents, Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey has announced intensified efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
