4,173 Houses To Be Built In Pune Under PMAY Phase II; Over 4,600 Applications Received
Pune, 19th March 2025: Under Phase II of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a total of 4,173 houses will be constructed in Pune. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has already received 4,666 applications for these affordable homes. The housing units will be developed in five locations across the city, including Dhanori, Hadapsar, Baner, Kondhwa, Balewadi, and Vadgaon Khurd.
The PMAY scheme, initiated by the Central Government, aims to provide affordable housing to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of society. In the first phase, the PMC constructed and distributed 2,918 homes in Vadgaon Budruk, Kharadi, and Hadapsar.
In September 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced PMAY Phase II, following which the State Government directed the PMC to begin the registration process. However, due to the implementation of the Assembly Elections code of conduct, the registration was delayed.
The PMC has now resumed accepting applications, which can be submitted online. Under this scheme, eligible citizens will be able to purchase houses in Pune for ₹12 to ₹15 lakh. The civic body is providing the land for free, and homebuyers will be eligible for 90% loan financing, along with a subsidy under PMAY.
