State Government Reissues Land Acquisition Notification For Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway; Travel Time To Halve
Pune, 21st March 2025: The Maharashtra state government has issued a fresh notification for land acquisition for the Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway project. According to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the proposed Pune-Nashik Green Corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities. Currently, the journey takes around five to six hours, but with the completion of the project, it is anticipated to decrease to approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
The MSRDC had previously appointed a consultant through a tender process for the project. The consultant firm prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) outlining the comprehensive plans for the highway. However, the project faced hurdles after farmers staged protests opposing the land acquisition, which stalled its progress.
Last year, the state government had issued a land acquisition notification, but the project did not commence within the stipulated period, causing the notification to lapse. Now, the government has reissued the notification, signaling a renewed push to move forward with the highway project.
