AeroMall Introduces Express Lane for Feeder Buses to Ease Traffic at Pune Airport

Viman Nagar, 23rd March 2025: To streamline passenger movement and reduce congestion, AeroMall authorities have introduced an express lane exclusively for feeder buses transporting passengers from the Pune airport arrival gate to the designated cab pick-up area.

The initiative was implemented in response to frequent complaints about unorganized parking, particularly by private vehicles, in front of the airport’s arrival and departure sections—an issue that intensified during late evening hours.

AeroMall’s vice president, Y.S. Rajput, highlighted the importance of the new system. “The express lane became operational earlier this week. We currently have three dedicated buses ferrying arriving passengers from the airport to AeroMall, where they can easily access their cabs,” Rajput explained. “Earlier, haphazard parking near the departure section caused delays for these buses. Now that all flights have shifted to the new terminal, it is crucial to maintain smooth transit.”

The complete transition of flight operations to Pune airport’s new terminal took place on March 5.

Rajput further elaborated on the challenges faced in enforcing parking regulations. “We have a strict policy against vehicles being left unattended in the express lane. If we find an unoccupied car with its engine switched off, we impose a fine on the owner,” he said. “However, some drivers now keep the engine running and have someone sit inside to evade fines. When our staff asks them to move, they often argue about the technicalities.”

Under the current policy, commercial vehicles can drop off passengers at the airport but are not permitted to pick them up. Private vehicles are allowed to enter the premises only for quick pick-ups and drop-offs, after which they must exit promptly.

For those arriving early, AeroMall offers a multilevel parking facility where vehicles can wait until passengers are ready for pick-up. However, many vehicle owners ignore this rule and park in restricted areas, causing unnecessary congestion.

With the introduction of the express lane, authorities hope to ensure a more efficient and hassle-free experience for travelers while keeping traffic movement smooth outside the terminal.
