Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol Ensures Safe Return of Injured Pune Tourists
Pune, 28th March 2025: Two couples who sustained serious injuries while vacationing in Phuket and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands were successfully brought to Pune for medical treatment with the assistance of special air services. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, played a crucial role in ensuring their safe and timely evacuation. Both couples are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Pune.
In the first case, 27-year-old Shubham Fuge and his wife Siddhi (21), residents of Bhosari, were injured in an accident while playing on a swing in Phuket. They were initially hospitalized there, but due to the severity of their fractures and inadequate medical facilities, they required urgent relocation to Pune. Minister Mohol facilitated the arrangement of a stretcher on the flight, secured the necessary permissions, and ensured their smooth transfer.
Similarly, in another case, Shobhana Lohpatre from Sinhagad Road sustained critical injuries in a road accident on a small island in the Andaman & Nicobar region. With limited medical facilities available, she was urgently transported to Port Blair with the minister’s assistance. She was then flown to Pune via air ambulance, arriving at 9 PM on Thursday. To ensure a swift hospital transfer, authorities created a Green Corridor from Pune Airport to Poona Hospital.
Minister Mohol emphasized the need for swift action in medical emergencies and reiterated his commitment to assisting those in distress. Thanks to efficient traffic management by the Pune police, the hospital transfer, which typically takes 30-40 minutes, was completed in just 13 minutes.
“The couple arrived at Pune Airport at 9:51 PM and was admitted to Poona Hospital in just 13 minutes, thanks to the Green Corridor. Traffic was managed by police from multiple branches, including Pune Airport, Yerwada, Shivajinagar, Deccan, and Vishrambaug. The journey, which usually takes 30-40 minutes, was completed in record time,” said Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pune Traffic Branch.
