Hinjawadi, 28th March 2025: A fire in a field in Maan (Taluka Mulshi) led to the tripping of MahaTransco’s 220 KV extra-high-voltage (EHV) tower line between Pirangut and Hinjawadi on Friday evening. The incident caused a power outage affecting 66,000 consumers, including 200 IT industries in Hinjawadi, along with domestic and commercial consumers in Wakad, Maan, Marunji, Kasarsai, Nire Dattawadi, and surrounding areas.

The first outage occurred at 5:29 PM, disrupting power supply for 46 minutes before being restored at 6:15 PM. However, the same 220 KV tower line tripped again around 7 PM, leading to another blackout.

According to MahaTransco officials, the power failure resulted from grass being set on fire beneath the high-voltage tower line in Maan. The incident created a 152 MW power deficit in MESDCL’s Pimpri and Mulshi divisions, impacting industries and residential areas.
