Pune, 1st April 2025: MahaMetro is set to begin work on the Vanaz to Chandni Chowk metro expansion, which includes the construction of a double-decker flyover along Paud Road, between Kachara Depot and Lohia IT Park.

The design plan for the flyover has been submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), aiming to tackle chronic traffic congestion along Paud Road, especially with the upcoming metro expansion.

Paud Road is a key arterial route leading to the Pune-Mumbai Highway, making it one of the city’s busiest stretches. Heavy traffic congestion, particularly during rush hours, is a persistent issue. The 1.5-km stretch between Lohia IT Park and Kachara Depot frequently experiences bottlenecks due to multiple traffic signals and densely populated residential areas.

Initially, PMC had planned a single-level flyover to ease congestion. However, with the metro expansion in progress, MahaMetro has proposed a double-decker flyover, similar to the one at Nal Stop.

The structure will be built near Kothrud Depot at an estimated cost of ₹85 crore. Once completed, it is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the Kothrud Depot area and alleviate congestion along Paud Road.
