Pune: NCP workers Throw Coins Outside Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital
Pune, 5th April 2025: A dramatic protest unfolded outside Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital as members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Sharad Pawar Faction) threw coins at the hospital’s main gate, alleging medical negligence led to the death of Tanisha Bhise, wife of Sushant Bhise, personal assistant to BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe.
The protest was staged to condemn what the party described as the hospital administration’s “arrogance” and failure to provide timely medical care. Party leaders claimed that the hospital’s negligence directly resulted in Tanisha Bhise’s death, and they demanded strict legal action against the doctors responsible.
City president of the NCP (Sharad Pawar Faction), Prashant Jagtap, addressed the protesters, stating, “A criminal case must be filed against the doctors accountable for the woman’s death. The Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has become so greedy, it seems they are now in need of charity—hence, we have brought coins to offer them as alms.”
Jagtap further alleged that the hospital has failed to pay ₹27 crore in taxes to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). “The pending dues must be recovered immediately, and a case of culpable homicide should be registered against the hospital administration,” he demanded.

He also criticized the government for granting public land to the hospital and called for the cancellation and retrieval of that land, citing a breach of public trust and misuse of government property.
The protest, marked by slogans and strong condemnation, highlighted growing tensions between political parties and private healthcare institutions in Pune, with demands for accountability and transparency gaining momentum.
