Pimpri To Host Week-Long Cultural Festival “Vichar Prabodhan Parv” Honoring Phule And Ambedkar’s Legacy

Pimpri, 11th April 2025: To commemorate the birth anniversaries of social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has organized a week-long festival titled “Vichar Prabodhan Parv” at the Bhimsrushti Ground in Pimpri. The event begins today (Friday) and will run until 16th April, featuring a rich lineup of cultural and intellectual programs aimed at spreading social awareness.

The festival will commence with the solo theatrical performance “Mee Jotibachi Savitri”, followed by a rebellious Shahiri folk concert, socially conscious songs, and the play ‘Gulamanche Utarandi”. A key highlight of the event will be the panel discussion “From Krantisurya to Mahasurya – The Journey of the Equality Revolution”, featuring actor Makarand Anaspure, actor Sandeep Kulkarni, senior journalist Arun Khore, Milind Tipnis, and writer Prabhakar Owhal.

On Saturday, 12th April, the focus will shift to the Indian Constitution with performances including themed songs, ghazals, and a panel discussion on “The Universal Influence of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.” Participants in the discussion include former MP and economist Dr. Narendra Jadhav, renowned writer J.V. Pawar, Goraksh Lokhande of the Maharashtra Scheduled Caste Commission, Dr. Valmiki Sarvade, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), legal expert Adv. Ambadas Bansode, and Milind Panpatil, Director of the National Water Academy. The evening will conclude with a musical tribute to Ambedkar by renowned singer Anand Shinde.

Sunday, 13th April, will feature a transformative concert of Buddha-Bhim songs and a Shahiri musical performance. On Monday, 14th April, the classical music concert “Dhammapahat”, featuring Buddha-Bhim compositions, will be held along with a musical interpretation of the Indian Constitution titled “Bharat Ki Rajyaghatna”. A symbolic flower shower over Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Pimpri by helicopter is also scheduled, along with tribal dance performances as a tribute. The evening will include a globally recognized performance by differently-abled artists: “Tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Wheels”—a unique blend of dance and music.

On Tuesday, 15th April, the program will feature songs by local artists, the one-woman play “Mee Ramai Bolte”, and a melodious session of Bhim-Buddha songs. The event will conclude on Wednesday, 16th April, with the grand play “Samvidhan Shilpakar” (Architect of the Constitution), portraying Dr. Ambedkar’s life and the making of the Constitution, staged at the PWD Ground in Sangvi.
