Pune, 11th April 2025: In view of the large gatherings expected for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday (14th April) the Pune traffic police have announced changes to traffic flow in multiple parts of the city. Key areas including the District Collector’s Office, Camp area near Aurora Towers, Dandekar Bridge, and Vishrantwadi will see rerouted traffic to manage the anticipated crowd.
Thousands of followers from Pune city and suburban areas are expected to visit the statue of Dr. Ambedkar near the District Collector’s Office on the occasion. To ensure smooth movement and avoid congestion, alternative traffic arrangements will be in place. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zende, has urged motorists to use the designated alternate routes.
Traffic from Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk in Mangalwar Peth heading towards Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted. Vehicles should instead use RTO Chowk via Jahangir Hospital to reach their destinations. Similarly, traffic from RTO Chowk to Maldhakka should also follow Tadiwala Road and Jahangir Hospital route.
Vehicles coming from the General Post Office (GPO) towards the District Collector’s Office will be rerouted through Kirad Chowk and Nehru Memorial Chowk. Likewise, traffic from Pune Station towards the Collector’s Office will also be redirected.
Traffic from Narpatgiri Chowk in Somwar Peth towards Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted via 15 August Chowk, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Pawale Chowk, and Kumbharves. Similarly, traffic from Banerjee Chowk heading towards Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk will be diverted.
Due to the high footfall near the Dr. Ambedkar statue in the Camp area and large-scale celebrations in Vishrantwadi, traffic adjustments will also be enforced in these locations.
Authorities have requested citizens to cooperate with the changes and plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays and congestion.
