Clean Pune Campaign to Be Revamped With NGO Partnership

Pune, 13th June 2025: In a renewed push for city-wide cleanliness, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to launch an intensified “Swachh Pune Campaign” under the leadership of newly appointed Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. The campaign will be implemented in collaboration with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure deeper public participation and sustainable impact.

A key meeting was held with various NGOs and civic groups to discuss the way forward. The aim is to improve waste segregation, promote home composting, streamline bulk waste processing, raise public awareness at the community level, and increase visible cleanliness across all city zones.

Additional Commissioners M.J. Pradeep Chandran (General), Prithviraj B.P. (Estate), and Omprakash Divate (Special), along with Deputy Commissioner of the Solid Waste Management Department Sandeep Kadam, were present for the discussions.
Key Focus Areas of the Swachh Pune Campaign:
Achieve 100% waste segregation at source
Promote home composting and bulk waste processing
Drive public awareness at the settlement level
Involve school and college students in cleanliness activities
Ensure visible cleanliness in public areas
The meeting saw participation from several influential organizations, including the Rotary Club, EcoExist, Swachh Pune Seva Sahakari Sanstha, Pune Retail Association, Traders’ Union, MCCIA, Puneri Nayak, Dr. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan, NSCC, Yardi, Punaravartan, CREDAI, Jewelers Association, and Lodha Food Product Dealers.

Municipal Commissioner Ram emphasized that sustained cleanliness cannot be achieved without the active involvement of citizens, and urged all stakeholders to work collectively to make Pune a model city in sanitation and public hygiene.

The campaign is expected to roll out in phases, with NGOs playing a pivotal role in mobilizing communities and driving behavioral change.
