Pune: Raju Shetti Announces Statewide Protest on 15th June in Support of Bacchu Kadu
Pune, 13th June 2025: Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana leader Raju Shetti has declared a statewide agitation on 15th June to support MLA Bacchu Kadu, whose health is rapidly deteriorating as his indefinite hunger strike in Amravati enters its sixth day. Shetti made this announcement amid mounting concerns for Kadu, who has refused medical treatment and nutrition while demanding urgent action on 17 key issues affecting farmers, persons with disabilities, widows, and other marginalized groups in Maharashtra.
Speaking to the media, Shetti emphasized that the protest aims to draw attention to the government’s neglect of pressing farmer issues and to stand in solidarity with Bacchu Kadu, who has been at the forefront of several farmer-centric movements. Kadu’s hunger strike has drawn widespread support from farmer organizations, disability rights groups, and political leaders across party lines, while a team of doctors monitors his worsening condition daily.
Shetti criticized the government for its inadequate response to repeated demands for relief and support to the agricultural sector. The agitation, scheduled for 15th June, is expected to see participation from farmer groups and activists across the state. Shetti has urged all supporters to join the movement and press for urgent action from the state administration. The announcement comes at a time when rural distress and political tensions are high, with Shetti reiterating his commitment to championing the rights of Maharashtra’s farmers.
