Pune Leads Maharashtra in Real Estate Registrations Under MahaRERA

Pune, 13th June 2025: Pune district has emerged as Maharashtra’s frontrunner in real estate project registrations under the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA), with a total of 12,788 projects officially registered, the highest among all districts in the state.
Since the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act came into force in 2017, Maharashtra has seen a total of 50,131 real estate projects registered under MahaRERA. Interestingly, nearly half of these, around 27,600 projects, are concentrated in just two regions: the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune.
On the national front, Maharashtra holds the top spot in project registrations, followed by Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the latter recording 15,322 residential projects so far.
Out of all the projects registered in Maharashtra, 17,280 have been completed, with developers submitting the required completion documents. Meanwhile, more than 13,300 projects have been officially canceled.
In terms of consumer grievances, MahaRERA has dealt with a total of 29,374 complaints. Of these, 21,888, nearly 74%, have been successfully resolved. Complaints related to projects launched before MahaRERA’s implementation saw a higher resolution rate of 81%, compared to 46% for those filed after the Act came into effect.
The authority has also seen a rise in efforts to settle disputes through alternative means. A total of 6,474 complaints were referred for conciliation, and 2,006 of these cases were resolved through mutual agreement.
MahaRERA has played a crucial role in bringing transparency to the real estate sector, empowering homebuyers with access to clear project details and legal safeguards. At the same time, it has pushed developers to maintain higher standards of credibility and accountability.
