Pune: Landslide in Pasarwadi near Malin; No Casualties, Authorities Begin Rehabilitation Work
Malin, 24th June 2025: A landslide occurred around 5:30 AM on Monday in Pasarwadi (Malin) village of Ambegaon Taluka, following visible cracks in the terrain near a temporary access road. No loss of life or property has been reported.
According to an official report submitted by the District Disaster Management Authority, the western side of the temporary road leading to the designated rehabilitation site gave way due to ground fissures. A portion of land slid onto the access path, forcing the authorities to temporarily close the road.
Three houses with a total of four residents are situated to the north of the affected area. All individuals have been safely relocated to a nearby community hall, where they are receiving necessary aid, including three months’ worth of ration supplies.
Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) confirmed that a retaining wall is required to stabilize the affected slope. A gabion wall structure has been proposed, and the PWD has committed to beginning construction once rainfall intensity subsides. In the meantime, debris removal is being conducted on a war footing, and road access has already been restored.
The village of Malin-Pasarwadi comprises 34 households, which fall under a landslide-prone zone. Following a Geological Survey of India (GSI) assessment, a safe relocation site has been identified. The new location covers survey numbers 340 through 346, encompassing a total of 0.80 hectares. The land acquisition process is complete, and plots have been demarcated. Distribution of plots to the affected families is scheduled for June 26, 2025.
House construction proposals for these families have already been approved by the Panchayat Samiti, Ambegaon, as per official records.
The report has been formally submitted by Namdeo Dattatraya Tilekar, Resident Deputy Collector and Chief Executive Officer of the District Disaster Management Authority, Pune, for official record and further action.
