Pune: Sharad Pawar Calls CM Fadnavis Over MPSC Students’ Protest, Seeks Dialogue on Demands
Pune, 4th October 2026: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday contacted Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the ongoing protest by Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants in Pune and urged the government to initiate a dialogue with the students.
MPSC aspirants have been staging a satyagraha in Pune since October 2, raising concerns over alleged irregularities in MPSC examinations, paper leaks, delays in recruitment processes and seeking the resignation of the MPSC chairman. The protest is being led by NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar.
The agitation entered its third day on Saturday, with students expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of a concrete decision from the state government on their demands.
A delegation of protesting students met Sharad Pawar on Saturday and discussed their concerns with him in detail. Following the meeting, Pawar spoke to Chief Minister Fadnavis over the phone and conveyed the students’ demands to him.
Pawar urged the Chief Minister to take immediate cognisance of the protest and address the issues raised by the students.
Speaking to reporters, Pawar said the government has a “moral responsibility” to ensure justice for the students and called on Fadnavis to directly interact with the protesting MPSC aspirants.
“I have been approached by representatives of the students. A way forward needs to be found on their agitation and demands. There should be dialogue between the Chief Minister or his colleagues and representatives of the students. If there is no discussion, the issues will not be resolved. Dialogue is necessary to resolve any issue,” Pawar said.
Pawar said he personally contacted Fadnavis after considering the concerns raised by the students.
“I contacted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis by phone so that a solution can be found keeping in mind the sentiments of the students. The Chief Minister is currently in Nagpur and is expected to return to Mumbai tomorrow morning. I requested him to immediately look into the students’ issues after returning to Mumbai and speak with them,” Pawar said.
He added that if necessary, the Chief Minister and representatives of the students should hold discussions to find a solution.
“We have suggested that everything possible should be done to resolve the students’ issues. I hope the Chief Minister will take a position on the agitation after returning to Mumbai and that the students will get justice,” Pawar said.
The MPSC students’ protest has drawn attention to concerns over the conduct of competitive examinations and delays in the recruitment process, with the protesters seeking concrete action from the state government.
