Maharashtra Govt Launches Public Survey to Improve Policing Standards
Mumbai, 1st July 2025: In a move aimed at transforming the policing experience for citizens, the Maharashtra Home Department has launched a public survey inviting feedback to help shape a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly police force. As part of the state’s ambitious ‘Vision 2047’ roadmap, the initiative seeks to align policing practices with global standards.
To facilitate public participation, the department has released a dedicated WhatsApp number — 9823430090 — through which people can share their feedback. Officials clarified that no personal or sensitive information will be collected, ensuring anonymity and data privacy.
A Step Towards Citizen-Centric Policing
The initiative encourages residents across the state to reflect on their experiences with the police and provide suggestions on how law enforcement can become more approachable and effective in combating crime and corruption.
“This is an opportunity for citizens to contribute directly to the future of policing in Maharashtra,” said a senior official from the Home Department. “Many people still hesitate to approach the police due to fear or past negative experiences. We want to understand these concerns and use that input to create a more responsive force.”
Survey Covers Key Aspects of Policing
The survey consists of 30 questions that cover various aspects of public interaction with the police, including:
Experience while filing complaints
Responsiveness of helpline numbers
Handling of traffic-related issues
Attitude and behaviour of police personnel
The collected responses will be analysed using Artificial Intelligence tools, allowing the department to identify patterns, common grievances, and areas in need of urgent reform. The insights will help guide policy adjustments and the creation of new citizen-focused strategies.
Vision 2047: Long-Term Policing Reform
The survey is a key component of the state’s Vision 2047, a long-term development strategy aimed at bringing Maharashtra’s governance standards on par with developed nations. As part of this broader plan, the state is looking to modernize police training, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and promote community-level engagement.
