Mulshi, 3rd July 2025: In a significant move to protect wildlife and ensure public safety, the authorities have ordered the immediate closure of the Andharban Nature Trail and Kundalika Valley in Sudhagad Wildlife Sanctuary for tourism activities until further notice. This decision comes after repeated requests from the Range Forest Officer Sudhagad and the Assistant Conservator of Forests Phansad, who highlighted the negative impact of uncontrolled tourist influx on the sanctuary’s wildlife and habitat.

According to official communications, the surge in visitors to the Andharban Nature Trail has raised serious concerns about law and order, especially after the closure of other tourist spots in Pune district as per the District Collector’s directive. The limited manpower of the forest department has made it increasingly difficult to manage and control the crowds, posing risks both to the wildlife and the tourists themselves.

The order, issued by Deputy Conservator of Forests, Rahul B. Gavai, states that both Andharban Nature Trail and Kundalika Valley, being part of the Sudhagad Wildlife Sanctuary, are now off-limits for tourists. Entry into these areas without proper authorization is strictly prohibited during this period.

Authorities have also warned that any individual, organization, or group found violating this order will face legal action under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, as well as other applicable laws.

The closure aims to prevent potential harm to wildlife, safeguard their habitats, and ensure the safety of visitors. The restrictions will remain in place until further orders are issued by the authorities.
