Mumbai: Singer Yasser Desai Booked for Dangerous Stunt on Bandra-Worli Sea Link; Video Sparks Safety Concerns
Mumbai, 9th July 2025: A viral video of playback singer Yasser Desai standing dangerously on the railing of Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link has landed him in legal trouble. Mumbai Police have registered a complaint against the singer, who is known for popular tracks like Dilbaro and Dil Ko Karar Aaya, under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for endangering public safety.
The video, which surfaced online on Tuesday, shows Desai balancing precariously on the edge of the sea link with his arms outstretched, mimicking a cinematic pose. Shockingly, he had no safety gear or support, and no crew or security personnel were visible nearby. Passersby were reportedly seen warning him of the danger, but the singer continued with the act.
Following public outrage and concerns over the misuse of a critical infrastructure space, the Bandra Police have filed a complaint against Desai under Sections 281 (careless riding or driving on a public road), 285 (performing dangerous stunts in a public place), and 125 (acts endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Public Outcry and Speculation
The video triggered widespread criticism and speculation on social media. While some users assumed it might be a shoot for an upcoming music video, others expressed concern that the singer could be experiencing emotional distress. A few questioned how Desai managed to access and stand on the restricted portion of the bridge without any intervention.
“Who gave him permission? This is not only illegal but sets a dangerous precedent,” wrote one user. Another commented, “Stunts like these could inspire others to attempt similar acts for attention, risking lives.”
About Yasser Desai
Yasser Desai, a Mumbai-born singer, began his musical journey at the age of 10. Though initially unplanned, his career in music took off with back-to-back hits. His notable songs include Huye Bechain, Aankhon Mein Aansoo Leke, Dil Maang Raha Hai, Pallo Latke, and Makhana. He has also lent his voice to several web series and television shows like Zakhmi, Bade Bhaiya Ki Dulhania, and Dil Sambhal Ja Zara.
Bandra-Worli Sea Link: An Engineering Marvel
The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, operational since 2009, is India’s first 8-lane cable-stayed sea bridge. Spanning 5.6 kilometers, it dramatically reduced travel time between Bandra and Worli from nearly an hour to just 10 minutes. The bridge is not only a crucial part of Mumbai’s road infrastructure but also an architectural landmark, with ₹9 crore spent on its decorative lighting that enhances its appearance, especially at night.
The sea link is heavily monitored and access to restricted areas is prohibited for the general public — making the incident all the more serious from a security standpoint.
